Tammy Shane is a graduate of Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario where she began
her B.A. studies in fine art, and finished at Queen’s University, in the Venice Summer School Program. As a compliment to her fine art Degree, Tammy has taken part in the advanced illustration post-graduate program at Sheridan College in Toronto; thereafter, beginning her promising career move as an independent artist and illustrator.
Upon examination of her work, her paintings are layered with both whimsy and nostalgia. Antique lace, old-fashioned wallpaper and handwritten notes or recipes, all become significant elements throughout her creative process. As such, her colour palette is often referred to as sophisticated, and explores her basic need for jewel tones and rich colours. Her most recent work evolves from her schooling in Italy, where she mingles a painterly technique with a single subject matter to create a final product of contemporary quality with elements of tradition.
Returning to her rural hometown, on the outskirts of Kingston, Ontario, Tammy’s passion for creating becomes more prevalent, as she sets forth to establish herself within the artist and illustration community.
